The medicinal plant information posted on this website is a subset of information held by the Institute of Traditional Medicine (ITM), Ministry of Health, Lao PDR, Vientiane. These data have been acquired through field interviews with Lao healers and community members in areas surrounding Medicinal Plant Preserves (MPPs) and Medicinal Biodiversity Preserves (MBPs). Research protocols for the interviews were performed under the approval of the Lao PDR's National Ethics Committee for Health Research (NECHR), Ministry of Health, Vientiane, and of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), USA. The ITM, Field Museum of Natural History (FMNH), and UIC are the sole proprietors and the holders of the Intellectual Property Rights of this information. Anyone who wishes to use this information for potential commercial use and development must obtain permission from the Director of the ITM and mpol_contacts@fieldmuseum.org.
