Field Characters: Tree 8-9 m tall, stem 10 cm diameter, bark gray, finely cracked, slash dark red, sap dark red, leaves large, obovate to elliptic-obovate, gray-green below, fruits orange, tubercled.

Locality: Oudomxay, Muang Xay District, Donxay Village, Medicinal Biodiversity Preserve, about 3 km south of city. GPS reading: At vicinity of 20o 40.0181’ N; 102o 00.155’ E.

Habitat: Forested slope in a broadleaved, mixed evergreen lowland tropical rainforest on a mountain slope.

Altitude: 950-970 m asl.
