Field Characters: Erect shrubs, 1-7 m tall, young branches pubescent. Leaf oblong or ovate, apex acuminate, 1-2 cm long, glabrous. Flower sepals 1-2.5 mm long, one sepal leaf-like, ovate. Corolla lobed red at center. Fruit a berry, ovoid, black 

Locality: Khammuan Province; Nyommalath District; Thongkong Village, road  side of Route to Khammouane Medicinal Biodiversity Preserve; at the southern reaches of Nakai Nam Theum National Park. 

Habitat: Tropical rainforest on flat level lands. 

Altitude: 150 m asl.
